Celebrating Our Tuesday Volunteers

At Seneca Hills Bible Camp, we are incredibly grateful for our dedicated Tuesday Volunteers—a loyal group of (mostly) retired individuals who show up week after week to lend a hand. Each Tuesday, around a dozen volunteers come together, bringing their skills, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of community.

A Welcoming Start

Our day starts with a time of fellowship over a light breakfast, where we enjoy snacks, fellowship with each other, laugh, and spend some time in prayer lifting up our praises and requests to the Lord. This time allows everyone to connect and share stories.

Hard at Work

After our morning prayer, thevolunteers work on various projects that contribute to the upkeep and improvement of our camp. This year, their focus is on remodeling the Miller Retreat Center basement into offices.

In the past, they’ve tackled impressive tasks, including:

  • Installing new roofs on cabins
  • Handling regular maintenance issues like plumbing and electrical work
  • Assisting with vehicle maintenance
  • Residing the cabins on Boys Hill

In all that they volunteers do, they help to improve the ministry of Seneca Hills and prepare camp for the arrival of our campers every summer. As spring approaches, our volunteers also play a crucial role in mowing and maintaining our beautiful grounds, rain or shine. Their commitment is truly inspiring, and we appreciate their hard work and the sense of community they bring. At noon, the full-time staff, interns, and volunteers all gather together for lunch. Afterwards, they continue working on their tasks until the end of the day.

Hear from one of our Volunteers!

Wolfgang learned about Seneca from his kids and grandkids, who have camped and worked on summer staff, and he has been serving around camp ever since! As a retired carpenter, Wolfgang said the needs of camp align well with his expertise. He helped with the Miller Retreat Center basement demolition and remodeling, and plans to use his skills and time to invest in the camp experience for his grandchildren and others. “We’re all part of the body,” Wolfgang said. “we all have gifts, use ‘em!”
